Gigglefeet Dance Festival Checklist

To be fully registered you must complete the registration form, the Dancer Release form, and submit your music. Please apply for a travel and/or costume grant and submit any special technical requirements should you wish to.

Gigglefeet Dance Festival Guidelines

  • The Gigglefeet Dance Committee reserves the right to exclude work that is not choreographed by Tech Rehearsal on Friday, August 2, for safety concerns, inadequate preparation, or if the committee deems the dance inappropriate.
  • Provocative and/or challenging art, dance forms of all types are welcome.
  • Gigglefeet is open to all dancers, choreographers, and tech personnel of all styles.
  • While dancers of all ages are welcome, parents should be advised of mature dance styles and themes.
  • Late applications, and dances by choreographers that have submitted more than 2 pieces, will be accepted only if space allows.
  • Please ensure that all pieces presented at the Gigglefeet Dance Festival are new to the Ketchikan stage this year: specifically, no repeat performances from anywhere within the past season.  Recreated or re-staged Gigglefeet performances must be from 2019 or earlier.
  • At the discretion of the organizers, performances are limited to 3 to 5 minutes unless a first time choreographer (see below).
  • However, in an effort to accommodate ensembles of 6 or more, and established choreographers, there will be a limited number of pieces that may extend to 5 or 6 minutes.

First Time Choreographers:

  • Dance must be reviewed by approved KTB instructor no later than July 11th to show concept, selected music, and confirmed dancers - this opportunity is available to all.
  • May submit only one piece.
  • Pieces may not exceed 2 min. in length.

Performances:

  • All dancers must arrive by 7:00 pm.
  • Order of performance will be determined by the Gigglefeet Committee to provide the most impactful experience for the audience.
  • Dancers under 14 years of age may dance in a maximum of two pieces.

Travel and Costume Grants Available:

  • Travel and costume grants available on a first come, first served basis. Grant applications due by July 8th, 2024.

Rehearsals:

  • Individual Rehearsals: Studio space is available at KTB through the Gigglefeet Coordinator (Grace Jackson) and must be scheduled in advance. You are responsible for the safety and supervision of all participants in your group, including children, as this is a liability issue.
  • Tech Rehearsals: Attendance is mandatory for the Tech Rehearsal. Performers will be scheduled in 30 minute intervals by the Coordinator for, Friday, August 2th and Sunday, August 4th. There will be no rehearsal on Saturday, August 3rd. The mandatory tech rehearsal for dancers is Sunday, August 4th, beginning at 4:30pm. Direct all technical requests and questions to the Coordinator. Time restraints will be taken into consideration on a first-come, first-served basis.

Consultations:
To fulfill the mission to assist artists in the preparation and development of performance pieces, the Gigglefeet Dance Committee offers consultations to dancers, choreographers, and tech personnel. We are here to assist you for any reason and would be happy to discuss your piece and presentation for the Festival.

Dancer Liability, Publicity, and Consent Release Form

You can either download the Release form and upload completed forms here - or you can drop them off at Ketchikan Theatre Ballet, or First City Players, or Ketchikan Area Arts and Arts Council, or you can email them to Grace Jackson at alaskanjacksons@outlook.com .

Special Technical Requirements

The following information request is ONLY for pieces that require special technical requirements. If you have no technical requirement please skip this section.

Cue Sheet: please list all tech cues (lighting, spot, stage, prop, flashes, media, color changes, music cues, blackouts, etc.) in chronological order in relation to the CD counter. With lighting, be sure to indicate the rate of transition.

Travel and Costume Grant Request

Travel and costume grants available on a first come, first served basis. Grant applications due by July 8th, 2024.

The mission of the Gigglefeet Dance Festival is to provide a creative and supportive environment to foster the development of dancers, choreographers, and technical theater personnel. A limited number of grants are available for this purpose, with preference given to activities that most directly benefit the Ketchikan dance community. If you need help with your application, please contact KTB, FCP or the Arts and Humanities Council!

  • Amount:    $150 maximum per applicant
  • Purpose:    To assist Gigglefeet Dance Festival participants in costume design, materials, set design, lighting, music, and baby sitting.
  • Eligibility:    Open to all artists and tech personnel. Preference given to residents of Southern Southeast Alaska. Applications for activities that most benefit the larger Ketchikan dance community will be given priority. Staff, committee, and board members are not eligible.
  • Reimbursement:   These grants are awarded on a reimbursement basis. If this makes it difficult for you to participate, please let us know, and we can make alternate arrangements.
  • Deadline:     5:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2024 to KTB, FCP, or KAAHC offices.     
  • Award decisions will be made within 1 week of the deadline.
