Peter Stanton and Cape Fox Corporation will present “When the U.S. Army Tried to Control the Tlingit and Failed.” After US purchased Alaska in 1867 over the next 10 years army build and maintained several forts across Alaska including three in Lingit Aani (Tlingit Country). American officers and soldiers tried and failed to impose what they believed was “law and order” among Native peoples, especially the Lingit (Tlingit)
