Rock Aak'w Festival

Friday, November 5, 2021

We are excited to announce that an Indigenous music festival is coming to Juneau! It will take place virtually during Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month, on November 5 and 6. Indigenous people have been underrepresented in music for a long time. That is why Qacung Yufrican Stephen Blanchett of Pamyua wanted to create this festival.
“There are few opportunities for Indigenous performers to headline at music festivals, let alone, a festival dedicated to Indigenous musical expression.”
Rock Aak’w will feature 13 Indigenous groups from around the world, including Pamyua, Ya Tseen, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Supaman, and many more! Go to www.rockaakwfestival.org for the full lineup!
Rock Aak’w is co-sponsored by the Juneau Arts and Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, Tlingit & Haida, WESTAF, Alaska Airlines, KTOO, and Sealaska Heritage Institute.
