Tongass Historical Museum
The Tongass Historical Museum, one of two facilities of the City of Ketchikan Museum Department, collects, preserves, and interprets material and information pertaining to the history, art, and culture of Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska. The Museum features permanent and temporary exhibits based on its own collections and community participation, as well as hosting traveling exhibitions from other institutions. Public programs, special events, workshops, and educational programs that relate to Ketchikan area history are also offered. The Museum’s extensive historical archive and photograph collections are available for research.

Hours: May thru September: Open every day, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
October thru April: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday1:00 – 5:00;
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed Sunday & Monday
Office Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Admission: Ketchikan residents (no charge); General Admission, $2 (May thru September only).
Tours: Guided group tours and educational programs may be arranged through the Programs Division.
Research: The Museum’s extensive historical archive and photograph collections are available for research during normal business hours. Please call for an appointment.
