43rd Annual Blueberry Arts Festival

Submit your design for the 2018 Blueberry Arts Festival!

The Ketchikan Area Arts & Humanities Council invites you to submit up to two designs for the 2018Festival logo.
Each year a new logo is featured on the Blueberry Arts Festival T-shirts and become a cherished memento from each year’s Festival. Your artwork will be worn by hundreds of Ketchikanites, will travel the world with our summer visitors, and be featured on all Festival publicity!

Entries are due, April 4, 2018

Entries must be a camera-ready design or image. Digital images are preferred in a scalable vector graphic format (EPS). PDF and JPG files are acceptable.
The design must incorporate the words: “42nd Annual Blueberry Arts Festival”, “2018″ “Ketchikan, Alaska”.

Please include the following information with your submission: Name, mailing address, phone and email address.
Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your design returned if it is not chosen.
The original artwork of the winning design will become the property of the Ketchikan Area Arts & Humanities Council.

PLEASE NOTE: Our organizational logo and the text “Ketchikan Area Arts & Humanities Council” will be added in an unobtrusive area of the design. While you will retain the rights to use your image for your portfolio, KAAHC will own the copyright to the selected work for reproductions. Artwork previously exhibited in southeast Alaska is not allowed (this includes art displayed on social media and websites).

The winning design will be announced in our May newsletter.
A prize of $500 will be awarded for the chosen design, plus fame and glory!

2018 Blueberry Arts Festival Schedule of Events! Coming in June, 2018

(Schedule will be updated as events are confirmed; schedule subject to change.)

2:00 pm – BLUEBERRY PET & DOLL PARADE.  Sponsored by Community Connections Early Learning Program.  Open to kids of all ages!  Dress up your favorite pets and dolls and meet in the city parking at the corner of Grant St and Main St.  Our musical escorts will lead us to the  Fire Department for cookies provided by Wells Fargo and the Ketchikan Volunteer Fire Department.

3:00 pm – BEST BLUEBERRY DISH CONTEST DEADLINE, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street (entries served at exhibit opening reception).

5:00 -7:00 pm – BLUEBERRY ART EXHIBIT OPENING, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

7:30 pm – 20th ANNUAL GIGGLEFEET DANCE FESTIVAL, Kayhi Auditorium.


8:00 am – REGISTRATION OPENS FOR FUN RUN: Front of Police Station, Grant & Main. 

9:00 am – FUN RUN: 1- Mile Children’s Run (12 & under) and 5K Walkers, Presented by Ketchikan Running Club.

9:30 am – FUN RUN: 5K & 10K
, Presented by the Ketchikan Runners Club.

9:30 am – SLUG WEIGH-IN
for the Big Slug Contest! (12 & under) Methodist Church parking lot.

10:00 am-5:00 pm – BOOTHS OPEN!  150+ artists and vendors!

10:00 am-5:00 pm – BLUEBERRY ART EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY, Main Street Gallery, 330 Main Street.

10:30 am – SLUG RACE (12 & under), Methodist Church parking lot.

11:30 am –  BLUEBERRY PIE-EATING CONTEST, Methodist Church parking lot.

12:30 pm -5:00 pm – MAIN STAGE EXTRAVAGANZA!

3:00 pm – GREAT BLUEBERRY BALL ROLL, Main Street, Presented by Ketchikan Youth Court.  Purchase your blueberry ball at the KYC’s booth.

4:00 pm – BLUEBERRY BEARD & MUSTACHE CONTEST, Mike’s Elbow Room.  Can your facial hair compete for Best Artistic Presentation, Wild Man or People’s Choice?


1:30 pm-1:45 pm – CHECK-IN FOR THE HANDMADE BLUEBERRY BOAT RACE, Thomas Basin. Be part of this new Blueberry Arts Festival event! Create a human-powered raft style boat and race it for fame and glory! Prizes for Most Creative, Fastest, and Most Likely To Sink, adult and youth categories. Race Time: Sunday, 2:00 pm. Get a registration and waiver form here.

7:30 pm –  20th ANNUAL GIGGLEFEET DANCE FESTIVAL, Kayhi Auditorium.

Blueberry Arts Festival Shuttle Bus

The Arts Council wants to make sure the Blueberry Arts Festival is accessible to all, so we have worked with Borough Transit to arrange a free shuttle for the festival. The shuttle will run on Saturday, August 5 only, and will offer handicap accessible transportation. This gives people the opportunity to park at the mall to take the bus and get dropped off smack-dab in the middle of the Blueberry Arts Festival! The bus will be the shorter blue bus and will have the Blueberry Arts Festival logo in its window. Click here to see the schedule!
