Moira Smiley & VOCO are redefining harmony singing. They radiate a sense of wonder and playfulness, a pure joy in human vocalization that carries them between and beyond genres. Moira Smiley & VOCO create lush harmonies in sweet, spell-binding arrangements. Perfect a capella chords build and climax with energetic body percussion along with banjo, cello, and accordion. They give rapturous renderings of global musical cultures, drawing from classical, folk, Appalachian and eastern European influences freely and seamlessly, with an infectuous air of complete delight. They are a three woman symphony of the amazing array of sounds the human voice and can create. VOCO is simultaneously expert and accessible, diverse and coherent, scary good and completely endearing, otherwordly and down home. You’ll be completely transported and grinning from ear to ear!

Vocal Workshop

Join Moira Smiley in a masterclass on Sunday, March 4 at the Main Street Gallery from 2 to 4pm. Admission is free. Moira will be coaching vocalists on finding their voice, vocalization and techniques in body percussion and improvisation. Moira Smiley has influenced a generation of young a cappella groups to study various folk harmony repertoires, performing in pursuit of each tradition’s unique vocal & performance demands and thus deepening their own creative culture of sound. She inspires young singers to use their voice as an instrument; a tool for composing, improvising and arranging.
