David Reynolds to release music video on Memorial Day (May 28) “In Full Uniform” song and video dedicated to military troops
Independent singer songwriter David Reynolds announced plans to release a music video for his new song “In Full Uniform” on Memorial Day, dedicated to all enlisted and veteran military troops. The music video will premiere on Monday, May 28 via YouTube and regional TV station KPU in Reynolds’ hometown of Ketchikan, Alaska.
The song “In Full Uniform” is from Reynolds’ upcoming EP titled “Evergreen,” which is set to be released on June 4. Reynolds was asked to write the song for a tribute to veterans compilation album, but he was initially hesitant because he had not experienced military service himself. One night last winter, Reynolds read the action report detailing his uncle’s U.S. Army service in Vietnam, where he gave his life for his country at a young age.
“While imagining what it must have been like to be so young, facing those kinds of experiences, I realized that people are still going through this today,” Reynolds said. “The song seemed to write itself all at once. It’s not a political song. It is simply a tribute to each individual soldier.”
Reynolds hired Seattle director Ian Connors to produce the music video for this special song. Connors is a military veteran who got his start in film as a combat cameraman in the Air Force for eight years. With his company 8Rivers Films, Connors’ recent work includes cinematography and production credits on the award-winning documentary films “Man Zou: Beijing to Shanghai” and “Sonicsgate: Requiem for a Team.”
Reynolds was able to raise $9,000 from mostly Alaskan businesses to produce the music video for “In Full Uniform.” He launched a Kickstarter campaign last week to raise the final post-production costs for the video, and he is offering prizes to Backers including copies of his previous two albums, unreleased songs, credits in the video and a private concert.
David Reynolds performs live in Seattle this Thursday, May 17 at the High Dive (513 N 36th St). View his upcoming tour schedule at davidbreynolds.com.
